THIS EXHIBITION IS COMPLETELY INCLUSIVE We want everyone who wants to participate to do so, and we want everyone to be able to express themselves freely. Therefore, the 3-day popup exhibition will be completely INCLUSIVE and uncensored. If you follow the submission guidelines your work will be featured in the exhibition. Our curatorial team will coordinate with you and facilitate its presentation – no work will be rejected UNLESS IT DOES NOT MEET THE SUBMISSION CRITERIA BELOW. THIS EXHIBITION IS A FUNDRAISER
The works in this exhibition will be available for sale – 100% of the sale will go to a local organization supporting women, TBA. We ask you price your work between $10 - $100 so that all attendees feel that they can a purhase a piece supporting IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SELL YOUR WORK please specify by noting in your submission as NFS. We ask that you then either: donate a second work that can be sold or make a donation yourself to the organization.
ALL MEDIUMS WELCOME
So that there is enough room for each artist to show we ask that your work be no larger than 24 inches in any direction. It can be smaller, it can be an odd shaped, it can be 3D, but no larger than 24 inches. All 2D and 3D work needs to arrive READY TO HANG.
VIDEO: Video submissions are welcome. Please note that since we are not equipped with the neccesary materials, you will be responsible for your own setup, moniters, etc.
TEXT: We welcome writers, poets, and text artists to participate. You can choose whichever medium above to best convey your work, or simply print out and frame. Please let us know if you'd be interested in doing a live reading, which will be presented during the 3-day popup exhibit Opening reception Jan. 19th.
MUSIC: we welcome musicians! Songs must be original, written by the person submitting. Email us a sound clip, and be prepared to perform your "nasty women" song live (acoustic) during the 3-day popup exhibit Opening reception Jan. 19th. We will have limited sound equipment, so please bring aything special.
EMROIDERY ART: yes please!
PERFORMANCE ART: yes again. Please be prepared to present live during during the 3-day popup exhibit Opening reception Jan. 19th.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK:
Submission must be received by January 7, 2017. The work itself must be dropped off at the Gallery during install dates, or shipped to arrive during January 7rd – 13th, 2017. By submitting to Nasty Women RI you are agreeing to allow us to use your name and work image to help in the promotion of the exhibition. You are responsible for the drop off/shipping of your work, if it does not sell you are responsible for the pick up/shipping costs for its return. WORK DROP OFF/PICK UP We will have multiple dates/times during January 7 – 13 for work drop off in Kingston. These details will be sent upon receiving your images via email. If you are outside the Rhode Island area and cannot physically drop off work – you can ship it. HOWEVER if the work does not sell you will have to pay the cost for return shipment as well. Details for shipping will be sent with confirmation of your submission. Please make sure the work arrives the week of January 7 – 13. If your work does not sell in fundraiser (or is not for sale) we will again have various work pick up times. Or can ship work back to you (but you are responsible for shipping costs).
We ask that you be available at the gallery during the closing day of the popup to pick up any unsold work.
